BAU – The Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD Bau) carried out an integrated crime prevention operation in the Pasar Serikin area on 5 July 2026, focusing on traffic enforcement and border security.
The operation deployed a team consisting of one PKP officer and six PRP personnel. Their presence was aimed at ensuring compliance with road regulations and preventing unauthorised foreign vehicles from entering through the border route leading to Pasar Serikin.
During the exercise, police inspected 15 vehicles and checked 20 individuals. As part of the enforcement measures, four traffic summonses were issued for various offences. These included failing to wear a helmet, driving without side mirrors, neglecting to fasten seat belts, and using number plates that did not comply with regulations.
Authorities confirmed that the operation proceeded smoothly without any untoward incidents. The police highlighted that such initiatives are essential to maintaining order and safeguarding the community, particularly in areas with high visitor traffic such as Pasar Serikin.
The presence of law enforcement officers was also intended to reassure the public and strengthen confidence in local security measures. Police representatives emphasised that visible enforcement not only deters potential offences but also fosters a sense of safety among residents and traders in the border market.
Pasar Serikin, located near the Sarawak–Indonesia border, is a popular weekend destination for both locals and tourists. The market attracts significant numbers of visitors, making it a focal point for enforcement activities to ensure smooth operations and lawful conduct.
Community members were reminded to adhere to traffic laws and cooperate with officers during such operations. Police stressed that compliance is vital for collective safety and helps reduce risks associated with road use and cross-border activity.
The integrated operation reflects ongoing efforts by IPD Bau to strengthen crime prevention strategies and enhance public security. By combining traffic enforcement with border monitoring, the police aim to maintain order while supporting the well-being of the community and visitors alike.
