DEBAK – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Debak successfully carried out an operation to remove a dangerous wasp nest discovered in a residential garden, following a complaint lodged by a local resident.
Upon inspection, officers found the nest to be roughly the size of a football. Its location posed a potential threat not only to the complainant but also to members of the public living nearby. Recognising the risks associated with wasp stings, APM Debak acted swiftly to neutralise the hazard.
The team conducted the operation using full personal protective equipment (PPE) and specialised techniques to ensure safety throughout the process. The nest was destroyed without incident, and no injuries were reported.
Following the removal, APM personnel carried out a thorough inspection of the area to confirm that no further threats remained.
Once the site was declared safe, it was handed back to the complainant. The operation was officially concluded after the situation was confirmed to be under control.
Local authorities have emphasised the importance of reporting such cases promptly, as wasp nests can grow quickly and pose serious risks to residents.
The successful intervention highlights the readiness of APM Debak to respond to community safety concerns and prevent potential harm.
Councillors and community leaders have praised the team’s efficiency, noting that their rapid response helped reduce the risk of stings and ensured peace of mind for residents in the surrounding area.
The incident serves as a reminder of the value of vigilance and the role of emergency services in safeguarding public safety.
The APM continues to encourage residents to remain alert to potential hazards in their environment and to seek assistance when necessary.
The Debak operation demonstrates how coordinated action and proper safety measures can effectively manage threats posed by wildlife in residential areas.
