MARUDI – Civil defence volunteers in the Marudi district responded to a medical emergency involving an elderly resident who was found in a weakened state.
The operation, which took place on the afternoon of Friday, 31 July 2026, demonstrates the rapid response capabilities of local emergency teams in rural communities.
The Marudi District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an urgent call from a member of the public at approximately 1:58 pm.
The caller reported that an elderly man at Lot 803, Kampung Baru, was suffering from a sudden decline in health and required immediate assistance.
Recognising the vulnerability of the patient, the control centre promptly dispatched a rescue team to the location.
Alpha Squad, comprising four members of other ranks, was assigned to the mission. The team was led by Sergeant (PA) Siti Naquiah Binti Abdullah, who coordinated the response efforts.
Given that the distance to the incident location was approximately one kilometre from the base, the squad was able to reach the scene quickly, minimising the wait time for the distressed individual.
Upon arrival at Lot 803, the APM personnel met with the complainant and assessed the condition of the elderly victim. They found the man to be in a weak state, unable to care for himself effectively at that moment.
The team conducted a preliminary examination to determine the severity of his condition and to ensure there were no immediate life-threatening issues that required advanced intervention on-site.
Following standard operating procedures, the squad provided initial aid to stabilise the patient. This included ensuring he was comfortable, hydrated if appropriate, and monitored for any changes in consciousness or vital signs.

Once the initial assessment was complete and the patient was deemed stable for transport, the APM team arranged for him to be taken to the nearest hospital for further medical evaluation.
