KUCHING – Businesses in Sarawak are being encouraged to strengthen their productivity and competitiveness through the Productivity Measurement for Shared Prosperity (PROSHARE) Programme, an initiative introduced by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) with support from the Ministry of Economy.
The programme aims to help enterprises improve business performance, measure productivity more effectively and support sustainable wage growth through a data-driven approach.
MPC Sarawak Senior Manager Puan Adlina Snawi said improving productivity is essential to ensuring businesses remain strong, competitive and capable of providing better opportunities for both companies and employees.
She explained that as Malaysia moves towards becoming a high-income and innovation-driven economy, productivity has become more than just an economic measurement. It is now a key factor in helping businesses make better decisions, improve efficiency and develop sustainable growth strategies.
“Through PROSHARE, enterprises are equipped with practical insights to measure productivity performance, strengthen profitability and develop compensation strategies that are sustainable for both businesses and employees,” she said.
The implementation of PROSHARE comes at a time when Malaysia continues to strengthen its economic position globally. Malaysia recorded a notable improvement in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2026, moving up to 15th place worldwide.
At the same time, the World Bank Malaysia Economic Monitor 2026 highlighted that long-term wage growth depends heavily on continuous improvements in labour productivity and the ability of businesses to enhance their capabilities.
Through the PROSHARE Programme, MPC productivity experts work closely with participating companies to understand the connection between employee productivity, business profitability and wage development.
Using a structured productivity measurement framework, companies will receive recommendations to improve operational efficiency, optimise resources and identify areas where improvements can be made.
The programme uses a two-part approach involving the PACE Digital Portal and on-site Gemba Sessions. The PACE Digital Portal provides a secure platform for companies to submit information and analyse productivity performance, while Gemba Sessions allow MPC experts to visit businesses, verify operational and financial information and discuss possible improvement strategies directly with company representatives.
Through these sessions, participating companies can receive customised productivity intervention plans designed according to their business needs and challenges.
Eligible companies in Sarawak are invited to take part in the PROSHARE Programme by registering through the PACE portal at pace.urusnow.com. The initiative provides businesses with a structured assessment that can support better decision-making, stronger performance and sustainable workforce development.
MPC believes that improving enterprise productivity will continue to play an important role in strengthening Sarawak’s business ecosystem while contributing towards Malaysia’s goal of achieving higher income growth and a more competitive economy.
