A tragic act of violence has shaken a school in Thailand, resulting in multiple (at least 7) deaths and numerous injuries (at least 15). Authorities have confirmed that seven people lost their lives when a student opened fire at a school in Nonthaburi province on Friday morning.

The shooting occurred at approximately 10am within the grounds of Debsirin Nonthaburi School, located in the Bang Kruai district. Emergency services and law enforcement personnel were swiftly deployed to the scene to manage the crisis and attend to those affected.

This figure comprises three teachers, three students, and the perpetrator themselves, who was confirmed to have died at the location of the incident.
Medical teams worked urgently to transport those wounded to nearby healthcare facilities for treatment. According to police statements, fifteen victims sustained injuries during the gunfire.
Amongst these patients, two are currently reported to be in serious condition, requiring intensive medical attention and monitoring as they recover from the trauma inflicted during the morning attack.
Forensic examinations at the scene yielded significant evidence regarding the weapon used in the assault. Investigators recovered a 9-millimetre pistol along with thirty-four bullets found outside the magazine.
Lieutenant General Trairong disclosed that preliminary enquiries have traced the ownership of the firearm to the suspect’s grandfather, raising urgent questions about domestic gun storage and access by minors.
In response to the unfolding emergency, safety protocols were immediately enacted to protect those remaining on the premises. Both teaching staff and pupils were evacuated from the danger zone and relocated to Chanrat Wittaya School situated nearby.
Parents and legal guardians were subsequently notified and requested to collect their children from the alternative safe location as authorities secured the original site.
Recognising the profound psychological impact of such events, senior police command has mobilised mental health resources. The Inspector-General of Police directed the Police General Hospital to dispatch psychologists without delay.

“This is why the government is not allowing permits to carry and possess firearms to be renewed,” he said, indicating that stricter regulations are viewed as a necessary measure to prevent future occurrences of similar violence.
This latest outbreak of violence comes less than half a year after another comparable incident rattled the country’s education system. In February, an eighteen-year-old gunman attacked a school in Hat Yai, Songkhla province.
That earlier assault resulted in the death of the school principal and left several others injured before the suspect was apprehended, highlighting a disturbing pattern of school-based violence that authorities are now urgently seeking to address through policy and prevention strategies.
The recurrence of such attacks within a short timeframe has intensified public debate surrounding youth mental health, firearm accessibility, and school security measures.
