BINTULU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Bintulu District responded swiftly to a medical emergency on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, after receiving a call from the public regarding an elderly man in a weakened state.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) confirmed that the emergency involved an elderly male who was found lying on his bed, weak but still conscious and responsive. Concerned residents contacted APM Bintulu, prompting immediate deployment of personnel to the location.
Upon arrival, APM members assessed the victim’s condition and provided initial assistance. The man was carefully moved onto a stretcher before being transported by ambulance to the hospital. He was later handed over to medical officers at the Emergency Department for further treatment.
APM Bintulu expressed appreciation to the public for their quick action in reporting the case, emphasising that community vigilance is crucial in ensuring timely intervention during emergencies. The agency reiterated its guiding principles of “Ready Quickly with Integrity” and “Nang Steady,” underscoring its commitment to safeguarding lives across the district.
Medical emergencies involving sudden weakness are not uncommon in Sarawak, particularly among elderly residents. Health experts note that such symptoms can be linked to various conditions, including dehydration, fatigue, or more serious illnesses such as stroke.
