SRI AMAN – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Sri Aman successfully handled a snake-catching operation on Tuesday morning after receiving an emergency call from residents at Jalan Batang Lupar.
The incident occurred at approximately 8.52 am when a member of the public reported that a snake had entered a house at No. 50 along the road. Responders were immediately dispatched to the location to assess the situation.
Upon arrival, APM personnel discovered a batik python measuring around six feet in length concealed beneath a cabinet inside the complainant’s home.
Using a snaring technique, the team managed to capture the reptile safely, ensuring that no harm came to the occupants or the responders involved.
Authorities confirmed that the operation was completed without incident, with the snake removed from the premises and the situation brought under control.
The Civil Defence Force highlighted that their swift response reflects ongoing efforts to maintain readiness in dealing with wildlife emergencies across Sarawak.
Officials have reminded the public that encounters with snakes or other dangerous animals should not be handled independently.
Attempting to capture or remove such wildlife without professional assistance can pose serious risks. Instead, residents are urged to contact the relevant authorities immediately for safe intervention.
The APM Sri Aman District continues to emphasise its role in safeguarding communities from potential hazards, ranging from medical emergencies to wildlife encounters.
The agency has reiterated its commitment to responding quickly and effectively, guided by its principle of “Ready, Fast & With Integrity”.
Local residents have been advised to remain vigilant and to report any similar incidents promptly. The Civil Defence Force has stressed that cooperation between the public and emergency services is vital in ensuring safety and preventing accidents.
This latest case highlights the importance of community awareness and the availability of trained personnel to manage unexpected situations.
By working together, authorities and residents can reduce risks and maintain a secure environment for families across the district.
