KUCHING – The Borneo International Integrity Summit (BIIS) 2025 has set the tone for a future driven by ethical leadership, innovation, and integrity, reaffirming Sarawak’s commitment to promoting good governance across the Borneo region.
Held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), the summit was officiated by Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, representing the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, emphasised that BIIS 2025 acts as a catalyst for collaboration between government institutions and academia to cultivate authoritative, ethical, and accountable future leaders.
“This summit reinforces public understanding of the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability, while fostering effective governance,” he said.
Through talk sessions, forums, and leadership dialogues, participants from various sectors examined current integrity-related challenges and exchanged best practices to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) administration.
Datuk Dr Juanda further stressed the summit’s long-term impact:
- It nurtures ethical awareness among students and civil servants.
- It solidifies Sarawak’s role as a regional pioneer in integrity-based governance.
- It promotes cooperation among educational institutions and government bodies to instil values of integrity from an early age.
“This initiative is not just about institutional awareness – it’s about shaping the moral backbone of our future leadership and ensuring Borneo’s development is rooted in trust and transparency,” he added.
The summit aligns with Sarawak’s vision of sustainable and responsible development, positioning the state as a regional leader in ethical governance and public accountability.
