BINTULU – Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) has hosted a combined delegation from the Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) and the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) for a strategic working visit.
The engagement focused on exploring the logistical frameworks of both the Samalaju Industrial Port and Bintulu Port.
The bilateral visit served as an active platform for inter-state knowledge exchange, allowing officials to examine modern maritime operations and discuss ongoing regional infrastructure initiatives.
Senior executives from the participating organisations also held preliminary talks regarding potential collaborative ventures in the future.
Heading the SEDCO contingent was Group General Manager Datuk Ar. James Wong Kein Peng, whilst the RECODA group was managed by Construction Management Manager Lydiawati Binti Beki.
The visiting officials were received at the port facilities by Yusmin Zuhairi bin Adnan, the Vice President for Group Port Operations at BPHB.
During the operational tour, the visitors observed the specialized handling capabilities at Samalaju Industrial Port, which acts as a primary logistical gateway for heavy industries within the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
The discussions highlighted how advanced cargo processing and maritime efficiency directly support large-scale industrial manufacturing and regional economic corridors.
The interactions also touched upon the strategic positioning of Bintulu Port as a major global LNG export hub and container terminal.
Representatives evaluated the best practices utilized by BPHB to manage volatile shipping schedules, maintain safety compliance, and integrate sustainable port technologies into daily operations.
This joint visit underscores a growing emphasis on inter-regional cooperation between Sarawak and Sabah’s developmental agencies.
By sharing technical expertise and operational insights, the corporations aim to strengthen maritime networks and drive broader economic resilience across East Malaysia.
