KUCHING – Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) have reaffirmed their unwavering support and unity under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg. Despite ongoing efforts by outsiders to paint a picture of political discord within the coalition, leaders insist there is no internal strife.

PBB Supreme Council Member Senator Dato’ Ahmad Ibrahim issued a strong statement on Thursday, rejecting the narrative of a leadership rift in GPS. He described the circulating rumours of a power struggle as a recycled tactic intended to weaken Sarawak’s political stability — a stability that has long been a pillar of the state’s development.

“This kind of speculation has been around for years. It always comes from those who don’t understand the unique unity and culture we have in Sarawak. We are united, we are focused, and we always put Sarawak first,” said Dato’ Ahmad.

He stressed that all leaders within GPS fully support the Premier’s vision and integrity. According to him, the coalition is singularly focused on the state’s progress, peace, and prosperity, along with asserting Sarawak’s rightful autonomy under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“There is no infighting, no leadership crisis. Our mission is clear — to develop Sarawak, protect our rights, and ensure a better future for all,” he added.

Dato’ Ahmad also urged the people of Sarawak not to be swayed by rumours or external provocation. He called on everyone to continue backing GPS’s vision for a stronger Sarawak.

“To those who try to stir the pot, know this: we remain unshaken, united, and determined. Our focus is on building Sarawak for generations to come,” he concluded. — UKAS EDITION
