The incident was reported by a member of the public who noticed the hive on a kedondong tree near a residential property. Concerned about the potential danger posed by the bees, the complainant contacted APM Saratok for immediate assistance.

Three members of the Alpha Squad were deployed to the location, equipped with protective gear and specialised tools for handling poisonous insects. Upon arrival, the team conducted a risk assessment to ensure the safety of residents before commencing the operation.

Following established procedures, the squad destroyed the hive safely, preventing any risk of attack or injury. The operation was completed without incident, and the area was declared secure once the hive had been fully removed.

Honeybee nests, while vital to ecosystems, can pose serious risks when located near homes or schools. In Sarawak, cases of bee and hornet infestations have been reported in both rural and urban areas, often requiring intervention from emergency services. Stings from these insects can cause severe allergic reactions, making swift action essential in residential zones.

APM Saratok has reminded the public to remain vigilant and to report any sightings of poisonous insect nests immediately. Attempting to remove such nests without professional assistance can be dangerous, as bees may become aggressive when disturbed.

The Civil Defence Force continues to highlight its readiness to respond to diverse emergencies, ranging from medical cases and natural disasters to wildlife and insect control. Their intervention ensures that communities remain safe from potential hazards.

Community members in Saratok have expressed appreciation for the professionalism and efficiency of the Alpha Squad, noting that their swift response prevented any untoward incidents. The operation reflects the department’s commitment to safeguarding public safety and maintaining trust within the community.

Residents are reminded that emergency assistance can be reached via the 999 hotline or by contacting local APM offices directly. Authorities encourage the public to act quickly when encountering dangerous insects, ensuring that trained personnel can intervene before risks escalate.

This latest case underscores the importance of cooperation between the public and emergency services in maintaining safety across Sarawak. As the state continues to face diverse challenges, the dedication of teams such as APM Saratok remains central to protecting lives and property.
