MATU – The Matu District Civil Defence Force (APM Matu) successfully conducted a bee nest removal operation at the Wisma Persekutuan Matu on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.
The incident was classified as a Special Services Case (MSS) after staff at the federal administrative building reported a hive forming on the exterior wall of the premises.
The Matu District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received the emergency call regarding the nest earlier that day.
Recognising the risk posed by civil servants and the public visiting the administrative hub, a team from APM Matu was immediately dispatched to investigate.
Upon arrival, the team met with the complainant, who pinpointed the exact location of the hive on the building’s wall.
The personnel then undertook the necessary safety precautions, donning protective gear and securing the immediate perimeter to prevent any disruption to office operations while ensuring the safety of bystanders.
The team successfully destroyed the nest using an insecticide spraying method. Following the application, the site was thoroughly inspected to ensure no remaining insects posed a threat to the building’s occupants.
“The operation was successfully completed using the insecticide spraying method (Ridsect), and the situation was confirmed to be safe,” an APM Matu spokesperson confirmed.
The successful operation at Wisma Persekutuan underscores the APM’s ongoing role in maintaining public safety within government facilities.
The agency reminds the public that attempting to disturb or remove stinging insect nests without professional equipment is highly dangerous.
Residents and office managers are encouraged to contact the Civil Defence Force immediately upon the discovery of any hives or nests in public or high-traffic areas.
