SEMATAN – The Sematan District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) responded to an emergency call on 16 June 2026 after members of the public reported the presence of several fly stinger nests in tree branches near a resort.
The complainant requested assistance from the Civil Defence Force (APM) Sematan to remove the insects, citing concerns for the safety of residents and visitors.
Such cases, categorised as MSS operations, are part of APM’s mandate to protect communities from potential hazards posed by insect nests located close to populated areas.
APM Sematan deployed its team to the site to carry out the destruction of the nests. The operation was conducted using appropriate techniques to ensure the safety of both personnel and the public.
By removing the nests, authorities were able to eliminate the immediate risk and restore safety to the accommodation area.
Officials stressed the importance of reporting insect nests promptly, especially when they are found near residential or tourist locations.

The Civil Defence Force reiterated its guiding principles of “Ready, Fast & Integrity”, underscoring its commitment to swift and responsible action. Public cooperation remains essential in enabling APM to act effectively during such incidents.
