PM Anwar Ibrahim Receives Turkey’s Highest Honour, Order of the Republic

ANKARA – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has been conferred the Order of the Republic, the highest honour of the Republic of Turkey, in recognition of his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Turkey.

The award was presented by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at a ceremony in Ankara, symbolising the deep friendship and trust that has long characterised ties between the two nations.

Anwar Ibrahim accepted the honour with gratitude and humility, emphasising that it was received not in his personal capacity but on behalf of all Malaysians.

He noted that the recognition reflects the shared aspirations of Malaysia and Turkey for universal peace, prosperity, and mutual respect.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the award serves as a catalyst for further cooperation between the two countries.

He expressed hope that Malaysia and Turkey will continue to strengthen collaboration across strategic areas, including trade, investment, defence, education, and technology, for the benefit of their people.

Malaysia and Turkey have enjoyed decades of diplomatic relations, marked by growing cooperation in multiple sectors.

The conferment of the Order of the Republic underscores Turkey’s appreciation of Malaysia’s role in fostering closer ties and advancing shared interests at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

The ceremony in Ankara reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to deepen their partnership, guided by principles of trust, complementarity, and long-term benefit.
