KOTA KINABALU – The Director of Maritime Affairs for Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan, First Admiral Mohd Khairulanuar bin Abd Majid @ Razali, paid a courtesy visit to the Director of the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department, YS PKPjB Mohd Pisar bin Aziz, on 9 July 2026.
The meeting was held to strengthen strategic cooperation between the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department. Discussions focused on facilities and logistical matters, particularly those involving operations in the Kudat Maritime Zone.
The session also provided a platform for both agencies to exchange views and explore opportunities for collaboration. Officials emphasised that closer cooperation would enhance operational efficiency and improve service delivery, especially in responding to maritime emergencies and safeguarding public safety.
Present during the discussions were Maritime Commander Dzulfikhar bin Ali, Director of the Lahad Datu Maritime Zone; Encik Mohamad Hafeez bin Datuk Abdul Mait, Senior Assistant Director of Human Resources and Maritime Administration of Sabah; and Maritime Lieutenant Mohd Shahril bin Samsudin, Deputy Director of Sabah State Security.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency reaffirmed its commitment to building strong relationships with partner agencies through continuous communication and coordination. Officials noted that such cooperation is vital to increasing preparedness and ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and sovereignty of Malaysia’s waters.
The courtesy visit highlights the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing challenges related to maritime safety and disaster response. By working together, both the maritime and fire services aim to strengthen their ability to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies, ensuring that communities remain protected.
