KUCHING – A courtesy meeting between the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) and the Sarawak Arts Council (Majlis Seni Sarawak, MSS) has marked a new chapter in strengthening the state’s cultural heritage and promoting inclusivity.
On 11 June 2026, SCV Chief Executive Officer Puan Jane Lian Labang led a delegation to Rumah Sarawak, Jalan Taman Budaya, where they met with MSS Chief Executive Officer Dr Suffian Jalet.
The session was described as a strategic step towards building stronger collaboration between the two organisations.
The discussions centred on three key pillars: inclusivity and sustainability, cultural preservation, and future integration.
Both parties emphasised the importance of championing growth within Sarawak’s vibrant cultural and heritage sectors while ensuring traditions remain resilient and accessible in today’s modern landscape.
SCV and MSS agreed that safeguarding Sarawak’s diverse traditions is vital for future generations. They highlighted the need to balance preservation with innovation, ensuring that cultural practices evolve in ways that remain relevant and meaningful to contemporary society.
The partnership also aims to integrate cultural heritage into broader development strategies, aligning with Sarawak’s vision of a dynamic and inclusive cultural ecosystem.
By working together, SCV and MSS hope to create platforms that empower communities, encourage participation, and celebrate the state’s rich diversity.
Puan Jane Lian Labang expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that inclusivity and sustainability are central to SCV’s mission.
Dr. Suffian Jalet echoed this sentiment, stressing that cultural resilience requires collective effort and strategic planning.
The meeting reflects Sarawak’s broader commitment to nurturing its cultural identity while embracing modernisation.
With strong institutional support, initiatives arising from this partnership are expected to enhance community engagement, promote cultural education, and ensure Sarawak’s heritage continues to thrive.
