Sarawak Governor Welcomes MCPF Sarawak Delegation in Courtesy Visit

KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, received a courtesy visit from the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) Sarawak Branch delegation at the Sarawak Astana on 6 July.

The delegation was led by Dato’ Sri Johnny Ch’ng Ewe Gee and comprised prominent members, including Datuk Professor Dr Paul Chan Tuck Hoong, Founder of HELP University; Dato’ Mohammad Kepli Ahmad; Dato’ Dr Amin Khan; Dato’ Kennard Ch’ng Ewe Kok; Mah Yoke Keong; Chan Eu Khin; Ng Yim Seong; Dr Rajan Thangaveloo; Councillor Thomas Sim; and Leonard Sabu.

The visit provided an opportunity to introduce the leadership and members of the MCPF Sarawak Branch while also serving as a platform to exchange views on strengthening crime prevention efforts.

Discussions centred on enhancing collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and the community to build safer environments.

During the meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, both sides explored initiatives to raise public awareness of crime prevention, improve community safety, and foster a culture of harmonious living.

The governor expressed appreciation for the commitment shown by MCPF Sarawak in supporting government and law enforcement efforts to create a safer society.

Tun Pehin Sri emphasised the importance of community involvement in crime prevention strategies, noting that collective responsibility is key to reducing risks and ensuring public security.

He acknowledged the role of MCPF in promoting awareness campaigns and educational programmes that encourage citizens to take proactive steps in safeguarding their neighbourhoods.

The courtesy call highlighted the shared commitment between Sarawak’s leadership and MCPF to strengthen cooperation in crime prevention.

It also underscored the value of partnerships that unite government institutions, private organisations, and communities in building resilience against crime.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of continued collaboration, reflecting Sarawak’s dedication to fostering a safe and harmonious environment for all residents.
