Sarawak Premier Concludes Gawai Dayak Contribution Ceremony

KUCHING – Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg officiated the Gawai Dayak Contribution Handover Ceremony 2026 at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly on 14 May, underscoring the government’s commitment to inclusivity and appreciation for frontline personnel.

The event was held to recognise the sacrifices of security and enforcement agencies while enhancing the festive spirit of Gawai Dayak.

The Premier emphasised that inclusivity remains central to Sarawak’s development, with celebrations such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year and Gawai Dayak reflecting the state’s diverse cultural and religious identity.

In his remarks, the Premier highlighted the importance of leaders supporting communities and ensuring that festive contributions reach those who serve the state.

Earlier, the Sarawak Women and Family Department prepared food packs containing traditional items such as cakes and mee kolok to be distributed to uniformed personnel.

The Premier expressed gratitude to organisations such as Opis Raban Indu and Ruang Bilik Sarawak for their contributions to the Gawai Dayak virtual programme, which further enriched the celebrations.
