KUCHING, May 1: The stage is set for one of Malaysia’s biggest Muaythai showdowns as the 9th TYT Muaythai Cup Championship 2025 kicks off today at the iconic Kuching Waterfront, drawing 250 fighters from across Malaysia and seven international countries.
Organised by the Sarawak Muaythai Association (PMNS), the tournament will run from May 1 to May 4, promising four days of non-stop action with 130 Muaysport bouts and 16 explosive Superfight Pro matches.

Fighters from Sarawak, Sabah, Peninsular Malaysia, and countries including Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, Iran, Yemen, and the United Kingdom are ready to battle it out for Muaythai glory.
This year introduces a brand-new feature — the Borneo Cup 2025 — which adds an extra layer of competition between clubs from across Borneo.
PMNS president Jumaat Ibrahim said the TYT Cup has become a landmark event not only for Sarawak but for the international Muaythai scene.
“This championship has placed Sarawak on the global Muaythai map. It also benefits our local economy, from tourism and food to hospitality and transport,” he said.
He added that many top Sarawakian fighters who now compete internationally got their start in this very tournament. The event also helps unite Malaysians from different states and cultures through the spirit of sport.
Backed by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), MYSED, KBS, Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC/MSNS), and DBKU, the event also enjoys strong support from Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Minister Hannah Yeoh.
