St Ann Parish Expands with RM6.7M Office & Classrooms for Community

St Ann Parish Expands with RM6.7M Office & Classrooms for Community

PADAWAN, March 8 – St Ann Parish has reached a significant milestone with the inauguration and blessing of its new administrative office and religious classrooms, built at a cost of RM6.7 million. This expansion aims to serve the growing faith community by improving education, administration, and religious services.

The event was officiated by Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kuching Simon Poh, who highlighted the importance of unity and generosity in strengthening the parish’s mission.

“Faith flourishes through the dedication of our community—through time, talent, and resources. This project embodies the generosity of those who believe in strengthening faith and ensuring a brighter future,” said Archbishop Poh in a media release today.

New Facilities to Serve 25,000 Parishioners

The newly built facility features 14 classrooms, designed to support religious education for over 25,000 parishioners from 51 villages and nine residential areas. The relocation of the administrative office from Baruk to this modern space is expected to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

This development was made possible through generous contributions, including RM2 million from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) and RM200,000 from Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Lo Khere Chiang.

Ongoing Projects for Better Accessibility

To further enhance convenience for worshippers, a RM1.7 million parking facility project is currently in progress. This will improve accessibility and accommodate the increasing number of visitors.

The blessing ceremony also included the handover of the Occupancy Permit (OP), cultural performances, and the official blessing of the new classrooms and office spaces.

With these new facilities, St Ann Parish is now better equipped to nurture faith, support youth engagement, and enhance religious education. The parish continues to welcome contributions and support to ensure its role as a centre of faith and learning for future generations.
