LONDON: A proud moment for Malaysia and Sarawak as Wynson Ong Teck Ping, a son of Borneo, was awarded the Royal Award of Excellence 2025 and conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Consumer Advocacy and Community Development at a prestigious ceremony held at the House of Lords, United Kingdom Parliament.

The awards were presented by none other than the respected Lord Paul Martin, in recognition of Ong’s outstanding global contributions towards consumer rights protection and the empowerment of communities through advocacy and development efforts.

Wynson Ong, who was born in Sarawak, stood tall among 21 award recipients from various nations. Out of those honoured, only 11 were selected for the honorary doctorate distinction—marking a significant milestone for Ong, his homeland, and Malaysia at large.

Speaking after the ceremony, Ong humbly shared that the recognitions were not just personal achievements, but a reflection of the collective strength and spirit of his community.
