The accident, which took place around 4.10am, occurred when the motorcyclist was riding from the Stutong roundabout heading towards the Tabuan Tranquility traffic lights. According to Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, initial investigations revealed that the victim veered into the opposite lane before crashing into the oncoming Proton Wira.

“The victim, a local man in his 20s, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the Red Zone,” said Alexson in a statement today.

The driver of the Proton Wira escaped unhurt in the incident. Police have classified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
