PUTRAJAYA – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hosted scholars and presenters of the international conference “Islam and the Emerging World Order” at Seri Perdana this evening, underscoring Malaysia’s commitment to fostering intellectual dialogue on global challenges.
The event was organised by the International Institute of Futures Studies in collaboration with the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
It brought together academics and thought leaders to deliberate on pressing issues facing the Muslim world and the wider international community.
In his remarks, Anwar expressed gratitude for the insights shared during the meeting, noting that discussions spanned a wide spectrum of topics.
These included the challenges confronting public service, the rise of xenophobia, and the uncertain trajectory of global affairs amid ongoing crises. He emphasised that such exchanges are vital in shaping policies that uphold integrity and inclusivity.
A notable highlight came from two representatives from Sarajevo, who presented reflections on the classical work of Tajuddin al-Subki, Mu’id al-Ni’am wa Mubid al-Niqam (The Restorer of Favours and the Restrainer of Chastisements).
The text, they argued, offers timeless guidance that can be applied to contemporary governance and societal challenges.
Anwar stressed that forums of this nature should not remain academic exercises alone but should evolve into critical assessments of government policies. He said constructive recommendations from scholars could help shape actionable strategies that benefit not only Muslims but humanity at large.
The Prime Minister reiterated that Malaysia’s vision of a civilised and inclusive society requires leadership grounded in integrity and openness to diverse perspectives. He highlighted that intellectual engagement across borders strengthens resilience against divisive forces and contributes to a more just world order.
The conference underscored the importance of integrating Islamic scholarship with modern futures studies, aiming to bridge tradition with contemporary realities.
Participants agreed that collaborative dialogue is essential in addressing global challenges such as governance, social justice, and intercultural relations.
By welcoming international scholars to Seri Perdana, Anwar reinforced Malaysia’s role as a hub for intellectual exchange and policy innovation.
The discussions are expected to inform future initiatives that align with Malaysia’s broader commitment to integrity, inclusivity, and global cooperation.
