Prime Forum in Sri Aman Promotes Unity Through Islamic Values

SRI AMAN – The Prime Forum on Islamic Affairs at the Sri Aman Division has been hailed as a meaningful initiative to deepen understanding of Islamic values while fostering harmony in a diverse society.

Organised by the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) Sri Aman Division, the forum carried the theme “Islam, the Mercy of the Entire World”.

It was hosted at the Bandar Sri Aman Mosque and brought together experienced religious leaders and administrators to share insights on Islamic preaching and its relevance in modern society.

The event was attended by Lingga State Assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor, Sri Aman Division Resident Mahra Salleh, and Mosque Management Committee Chairman Azmi Morshidi.

Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration between government representatives, community leaders, and religious institutions in strengthening social cohesion.

Four distinguished speakers Ustaz Kamarulzaman Kawi (Sri Aman Division), Ustaz Haji Abdul Rahim Rashid (Kuching Division), Ustaz Bahrin Kawi (Samarahan Division), and Ustaz Madihi Jamali (Serian Division) discussed Islam’s role as a religion that promotes universal prosperity.

They emphasised the need for tolerance, moderation, and wisdom in daily life, particularly in a plural society where mutual respect is essential.

The forum also highlighted the evolving role of mosques. Beyond being places of worship, mosques were described as centres for knowledge dissemination, moral development, and community unity.

This reflects a broader vision of mosques serving as hubs for education and social engagement, in line with the challenges faced by the Muslim community today.

The gathering drew strong participation from both men and women, demonstrating the community’s commitment to strengthening religious understanding.

Attendees engaged actively, reflecting growing awareness of the importance of practising Islam in a balanced and comprehensive manner.

The forum’s objectives align with Sarawak’s broader efforts to encourage interfaith harmony and social resilience.

By promoting moderation and wisdom, JAIS aims to ensure that Islamic preaching contributes positively to the state’s multicultural fabric.

Such initiatives are consistent with the state’s emphasis on inclusivity and unity, reinforcing the message that religion can serve as a bridge for mutual respect and cooperation in a diverse society.
