Sarawak Governor Receives Courtesy Call from PVATM

KUCHING – The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, received a courtesy call from delegates of the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) General Council on Tuesday.

The delegation, led by PVATM advisor Mej Dato’ Peter Runi (B), visited to formally announce the association’s new leadership lineup.

During the meeting, they also proposed that the Head of State be appointed as Patron of PVATM Sarawak, in line with Malaysian law and similar practices in other states.

The visit provided an opportunity for the veterans to seek advice on their responsibilities and community activities, reinforcing the association’s role in supporting former service members and strengthening ties with state leadership.

Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi expressed gratitude to the veterans for their service and conveyed his hopes for the association’s continued success in its mission.

Also present at the meeting were Yang Pertua Gerembung Jimbau Galu, Deputy Yang President Capt Hadzill Awi (B), and committee members Jeff Talot, Edwin Jarau, and Garid Sunang.

The courtesy call highlighted the importance of collaboration between state leaders and veteran organisations, ensuring that the contributions of former armed forces personnel are recognised and their welfare safeguarded.

The proposal to appoint the Head of State as Patron is expected to further strengthen PVATM’s presence and influence in Sarawak.
