KAMPUNG GUMPEY – Sahibus Siyadah Ustaz Haji Mual bin Haji Suaud, Director of the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), completed the second series of the JAIS Director’s Ramadan Safari at Darul Iman Mosque, Kampung Gumpey, Gedong, Samarahan on 24 February.
The event was held in conjunction with the Dhiya’ Ramadan Programme 1447H/2026M, jointly organised by JAIS, the Sarawak Islamic Council Office, and the Samarahan Division Islamic Religious Office.
The programme was designed to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan with the local community, strengthen ties between agencies and residents, and identify the needs of surau and mosque facilities.
Highlights of the programme included a special Ramadan Tazkirah session, a communal fast-breaking feast, congregational obligatory prayers, and Tarawih sunnah prayers. These activities aimed to foster spiritual enrichment while reinforcing unity among worshippers.
In addition to religious activities, donations were presented to ease the burden of the community and support mosque management.
Contributions from the Sarawak Islamic Council included cash and food boxes for 30 less fortunate recipients, cash and school equipment for 50 underprivileged students, and a vacuum cleaner for the Darul Iman Mosque Management Committee.
JAIS also contributed RM3,000 to the mosque maintenance fund, ensuring that facilities remain functional and well-kept for the benefit of worshippers.
The director emphasised that such initiatives are not only about celebrating Ramadan but also about strengthening ukhuwah (brotherhood) between government agencies and the community.
He expressed hope that the programme would bring lasting blessings and encourage greater participation in mosque activities.
The Ramadan Safari reflects JAIS’s broader commitment to community engagement and religious development across Sarawak.
By combining spiritual programmes with practical support, the department aims to nurture a society that is both spiritually enriched and socially resilient.
