Ramadan Programme in Sibu Promotes Spiritual and Emotional Well-being

SIBU – A new initiative titled “Keberkatan Ramadan Menysub Ketenangan” has been launched in Sibu, blending psychological and spiritual elements to strengthen community well-being during the holy month of Ramadan.

The programme, introduced as a continuation of the “Kunjungan Prihatin, Kasih Terjalin” initiative held in 2025, is designed to deliver the message of Islam in a compassionate and practical manner.

Organisers emphasised that the approach aligns with the concept of dakwah rahmah, which focuses on kindness and inclusivity in religious outreach.

Activities were carried out at two locations: the Sibu Division Islamic Religious Office and the Juma’ani Tuanku Haji Bujang Welfare Complex (PERYATIM) in Sibu.

At the Islamic Religious Office, 200 Ramadan distribution packs were handed out to members of the public throughout the fasting month.

Meanwhile, on 11 March 2026, 70 mini hampers were presented to residents of PERYATIM, offering both material support and a gesture of care.

Organisers explained that the programme aims to provide not only physical assistance but also emotional encouragement, particularly for those facing challenges.

By combining spiritual guidance with psychological support, the initiative seeks to foster resilience and inner peace among participants.

The Sibu Division Islamic Religious Office highlighted that such programmes are vital in ensuring that religious messages are conveyed in a gentle and accessible way.

They added that the initiative also benefits employees involved in social responsibility, offering them spiritual fulfilment while reinforcing the value of compassion in their work.

Community leaders expressed hope that the programme would serve as a platform for nurturing harmony and understanding.

They noted that Ramadan is a time for reflection, and initiatives like this help reinforce the importance of empathy, generosity, and unity.

The distribution of packs and hampers was well received by recipients, many of whom expressed gratitude for the support.

Organisers believe that the act of giving not only benefits those who receive but also provides psychological satisfaction to those who contribute, creating a positive impact on both sides.

As Sarawak continues to encourage programmes that combine faith with social responsibility, “Keberkatan Ramadan Menysub Ketenangan” stands out as an example of how religious values can be integrated with modern approaches to community well-being.

The initiative reflects a broader effort to ensure that spiritual practices remain relevant and supportive in addressing contemporary challenges.
