KUCHING – The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) has taken centre stage in hosting the Intervention Session for National Technical Profession Day (HPTN) 2026, held on 8 April in Kuching.
The session was chaired by YBhg. Dato’ Zainal Alhakab bin Seman, Deputy Secretary‑General (Management) of the Ministry of Works.
The gathering marked a key step in preparations for the annual programme, which celebrates the contributions of technical professionals across Malaysia.
HPTN serves as a national platform to recognise the vital role of experts in engineering, science, technology, construction, architecture, surveying, and related fields.
Organisers highlighted that the initiative not only honours existing professionals but also aims to inspire younger generations to pursue careers in technical disciplines, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled workers for the country’s future development.
The programme is designed to elevate the status of technical professions by encouraging dialogue, idea‑sharing, and community engagement.
Officials noted that such interactions help strengthen the identity of technical professionals while promoting innovation and collaboration across industries.
As part of the intervention session, participants visited the designated venue for the upcoming programme and exhibition.
The site inspection allowed organisers to assess facilities, review logistical arrangements, and provide an early overview of how the event will be implemented.
JKR Sarawak expressed pride in hosting the engagement, underscoring its commitment to advancing technical human capital development.
The department emphasised that the initiative reflects broader efforts to build sustainable and competitive infrastructure while fostering strategic partnerships between government agencies, industry players, and the wider community.
The Ministry of Works reiterated that HPTN is more than a ceremonial event. It is a long‑term initiative to encourage excellence, nurture talent, and ensure Malaysia remains at the forefront of technical innovation.
By providing a platform for professionals to voice their perspectives and share expertise, the programme aims to strengthen the nation’s capacity for modernisation and infrastructure growth.
With preparations underway, HPTN 2026 is expected to highlight the achievements of Malaysia’s technical community while reinforcing the importance of skilled professions in driving national progress.
