MIRI – Routine maintenance was carried out on 10 June 2026 in Zone 8A/1 along Jalan Pulau Melayu, where grass cutting works were undertaken to ensure the area remains clean, tidy, and well-kept for the benefit of local residents.
The initiative, organised by the Miri City Council, forms part of ongoing measures to maintain public spaces and enhance the overall environment of residential and community areas.
Regular upkeep of roadside verges and open spaces is essential in promoting safety, comfort, and aesthetic appeal for the public.
Council representatives explained that grass cutting is not only about maintaining cleanliness but also about preventing overgrowth that can obstruct visibility for motorists and pedestrians.
Such maintenance helps reduce risks of accidents and ensures smoother traffic flow. Residents have welcomed the effort, noting that consistent maintenance contributes to a healthier and more pleasant living environment.
Overgrown grass can often harbour pests and create unsightly surroundings, while regular trimming supports community well-being.
The council has emphasised its commitment to sustaining cleanliness across Miri, with scheduled maintenance works carried out in different zones.
These activities are part of a broader strategy to improve urban infrastructure and provide residents with a safe and comfortable environment.
Community members are also encouraged to play their part by keeping public areas free from litter and reporting maintenance issues promptly.
The council believes that cooperation between authorities and residents is key to ensuring long-term success in maintaining the city’s standards.
The grass cutting operation at Jalan Pulau Melayu reflects Miri City Council’s proactive approach to urban management, reinforcing its dedication to cleanliness, safety, and the well-being of the community.
