SEMATAN – The Sematan District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) responded to an emergency call on 16 June 2026 after a resident reported the presence of a naning wasp nest on the roof of their home.
The complainant requested assistance from the Civil Defence Force (APM) Sematan to remove the insects, citing concerns for safety.
Insect nest destruction cases, categorised as MSS operations, are part of APM’s responsibilities to protect communities from potential hazards posed by aggressive insects near residential areas.
Upon receiving the call, APM Sematan deployed its team to the site to carry out the removal. Such operations are conducted with specialised techniques to ensure the safety of both personnel and the public.
The intervention successfully eliminated the immediate risk, restoring safety to the household and surrounding area.
Authorities highlighted the importance of reporting insect nests promptly, especially when they are located close to homes or public spaces.
Wasp nests can pose serious risks, particularly to individuals with allergies or those caught off guard by sudden attacks. Early reporting allows trained personnel to respond quickly and prevent harm.
The Civil Defence Force reiterated its guiding principles of “Ready, Fast & Integrity”, underscoring its commitment to swift and responsible action.
Public cooperation remains essential in enabling APM to act effectively during such incidents. Residents in Sematan and nearby areas are encouraged to remain vigilant and to contact APM immediately if similar cases arise.
