MUKAH – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Mukah successfully destroyed a wasp nest discovered in a bush on Thursday, 18 June 2026, following a public complaint.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) confirmed that it received an emergency call reporting the presence of the nest.
Concerned about the safety of residents, the complainant requested immediate assistance from APM officers.
Upon arrival, the team conducted a safety inspection and identified the nest, which was approximately the size of a football. Given the potential risks posed by wasps, the officers initiated a controlled destruction operation.
The nest was eliminated using a combination of Ridsect spray and fire, ensuring that the colony was completely neutralised.
The operation was carried out with caution and in line with established safety procedures. Authorities confirmed that the site was declared safe after the intervention, and no injuries or property damage were reported.
Wasp nests in residential areas can pose serious risks, particularly to children and elderly individuals. Their stings are painful and may trigger allergic reactions in vulnerable people.
The Civil Defence Force continues to remind residents that such cases should be reported promptly rather than handled without professional assistance.
This latest case highlights the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with emergency services.
Similar operations have been conducted across Sarawak, especially during warmer months when insect activity increases.
The Civil Defence Force reiterated its commitment to public safety, stressing that its officers are prepared to act quickly and with integrity whenever threats arise.
