JULAU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Julau successfully captured a rattlesnake found inside a residential bathroom in Sungai Manok on Thursday morning, 18 June 2026.
The Bravo Squad of APM Julau confirmed that it received a public complaint at 9.30 am regarding the presence of the reptile.
The snake, estimated to be about one metre in length, had entered the bathroom of a local residence, raising immediate safety concerns for the occupants.
Upon receiving the call, officers were promptly dispatched to the location. The team carried out a safety inspection and identified the rattlesnake. Using standard handling procedures, the officers safely captured the reptile without incident.
Authorities reported that the snake was later released back into its natural habitat, ensuring both the safety of the residents and the preservation of local wildlife.
No injuries were recorded during the operation, and the complainant was confirmed to be in good condition.
Rattlesnakes, though not commonly encountered in residential areas, can pose serious risks if provoked. Their venomous bite is potentially dangerous, making professional intervention essential when such cases arise.
Emergency services across Sarawak have repeatedly reminded the public not to attempt handling snakes themselves, as trained personnel are equipped with protective gear and safe capture techniques.
