Using insecticide sprays, including Ridsect, combined with controlled fire application, the officers neutralised the nest and ensured the area was safe.

The operation was completed without incident, and the site was confirmed secure. The intervention prevented possible stings and reduced the risk of further nesting in the same location.

Wasp infestations are a recurring issue in Sarawak’s rural and semi-urban areas, where vegetation provides suitable nesting grounds.

While wasps play a role in controlling other insect populations, their proximity to public spaces often leads to safety concerns.

Emergency responses such as this highlight the importance of vigilance and community cooperation in reporting hazards promptly.

The Civil Defence Force continues to emphasise its readiness to respond to diverse emergencies, ranging from wildlife encounters to environmental hazards.
