The incident was classified as a KMU (Snake Catching Case). A batik python, measuring approximately two metres in length, was discovered inside a cat cage.

Concerned residents immediately contacted the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Mukah unit for assistance.

APM personnel arrived promptly at the location and carried out the operation using pinching and snaring techniques.

The python was successfully captured without harm to the animal or the surrounding community. The situation was declared safe and under control once the operation was completed.

Snake encounters are not unusual in Sarawak, particularly in residential areas close to vegetation or water sources.

Wildlife experts note that pythons often seek shelter in confined spaces, sometimes entering cages or enclosures in search of food.

Such incidents highlight the importance of community vigilance and the need for professional intervention.

APM Mukah reminded residents not to attempt handling snakes themselves, as improper action could result in injury.

Instead, the public is urged to contact emergency services for immediate assistance. The unit reinforced its operational motto, “Nang Steady,” and its guiding message: “There is a Disaster, Call APM.”

Authorities continue to stress the importance of reporting wildlife emergencies quickly. By alerting responders, residents help ensure that potentially dangerous situations are managed safely and effectively.

The Civil Defence Force remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across Mukah and surrounding districts. For urgent cases, residents can reach APM Mukah directly at 084-872814, available 24 hours a day.

This latest case demonstrates the readiness of emergency services to act decisively in protecting communities from unexpected wildlife encounters.

The cooperation between residents and responders remains vital in maintaining safety and resilience across Sarawak.
