The closing ceremony was officiated by YB Datuk Dr Penguang Anak Manggil, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government of Sarawak, who also serves as State Assemblyman for N76 Marudi. His presence underscored the importance of collaboration between government agencies, corporations, and rural communities in advancing public welfare.

Joining him at the event were Dato Ruslan bin Abdul Ghani, President and Chief Executive Officer of BPHB Group, alongside members of the company’s leadership team, representatives from government departments, and local community leaders. Their attendance highlighted the collective effort to strengthen ties between institutions and residents.

The Komunitiku Sayang Programme was designed to raise awareness about fire safety, public health, and environmental protection. By engaging directly with rural communities, BPHB sought to encourage proactive measures that safeguard lives and promote sustainable living. The initiative also aimed to foster cooperation between the company, government agencies, and residents, ensuring that development efforts are inclusive and impactful.

As part of its contribution, BPHB donated 150 units of 9kg ABC Dry Powder fire extinguishers to the community. This practical support was intended to enhance preparedness and reduce risks associated with fire incidents. In addition, the Bintulu Port Foundation presented a PA system, 50 chairs, and five round tables to Kampung Narum, providing resources that will benefit local gatherings and community activities.

The programme’s activities included awareness sessions and demonstrations, offering participants valuable insights into safety practices and environmental care. By combining education with tangible support, BPHB reinforced its role as a responsible corporate citizen committed to improving quality of life in rural areas.

Community members welcomed the initiative, noting that such programmes help bridge gaps between urban institutions and rural populations. The provision of fire extinguishers and equipment was seen as a meaningful gesture that directly addressed local needs, while the awareness campaigns encouraged residents to adopt safer and healthier practices.

Officials emphasised that the Komunitiku Sayang Programme reflects BPHB’s broader mission of contributing to Sarawak’s development beyond its core business operations. By investing in community welfare, the company demonstrates how corporate responsibility can complement government efforts in building resilient and sustainable communities.

The event concluded with expressions of gratitude from BPHB to the organisers and participants, acknowledging the cooperation that made the programme a success. The company reaffirmed its dedication to continuing similar initiatives across Sarawak, ensuring that its outreach efforts remain consistent and impactful.

As Sarawak advances its development agenda, programmes like Komunitiku Sayang highlight the importance of partnerships between corporations, government agencies, and communities. The Marudi edition of the initiative stands as a testament to how collective action can strengthen safety, health, and environmental stewardship at the grassroots level.
