The Limbang District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from the public at 4.36 pm, reporting the presence of a large wasp nest. Acting swiftly, four members of the Delta Squad, led by Corporal (PA) Mohd Arif Bin Midun, were deployed to the site located 40 kilometres away. The team travelled in a JMC LRV vehicle and arrived at 5.44 pm to begin the operation.

Upon inspection, the squad discovered a ground wasp nest on the roof of the hall, estimated to be the size of a Perodua Kancil tyre. Recognising the potential danger to residents and hall users, the team employed insecticide spraying methods in line with safety protocols. The operation was completed successfully at 7.35 pm, with a final inspection conducted to confirm the area was safe before the squad returned to PKOD Limbang.

No injuries were reported during the operation, and the swift response highlighted APM Limbang’s readiness to handle emergency situations that pose risks to public safety. The Civil Defence Force reiterated that the safety and well-being of the community remain its top priority, with officers on standby 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies.

APM Limbang reminded residents not to attempt to remove wasp nests or poisonous insects themselves, as such actions can be dangerous. Instead, the public is urged to contact the authorities immediately to avoid unnecessary risks. For emergencies, APM Limbang can be reached at 085-210471 or through MERS 999.

The operation demonstrated the professionalism and efficiency of the Civil Defence Force in managing everyday hazards. By responding quickly and effectively, APM Limbang reinforced its role as a trusted partner in community safety, ensuring that threats are neutralised before they escalate.

Community members expressed relief and gratitude for the successful removal of the nest, noting that the presence of such a large colony could have posed serious risks if left unattended. The incident also served as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and cooperation between residents and emergency services.

The Civil Defence Force continues to encourage public awareness of safety practices, stressing that early reporting of potential hazards enables authorities to act promptly. The Limbang operation stands as a testament to the dedication of APM officers, who remain committed to protecting lives and maintaining public safety across Sarawak.
