Betong District Police Chief DSP Wan Mohamad Ali bin Wan Malek stressed that the police take drug offences seriously and will not compromise when tackling such crimes. He urged the public to assist law enforcement by providing information on drug-related activities in the district.
Community cooperation has long been recognised as a crucial element in combating drug abuse and trafficking. Police officials emphasised that timely information from residents can help prevent the spread of narcotics and protect vulnerable groups, particularly young people, from falling into addiction.
Drug-related crime remains a pressing issue across Sarawak, with authorities continuing to intensify operations to dismantle networks and reduce supply. Enforcement agencies have been conducting regular raids and surveillance in both urban and rural areas, aiming to disrupt illegal activities and bring offenders to justice.
The arrest in Pusa reflects ongoing efforts by the Betong police to strengthen their presence and maintain vigilance in the district. Officials have reiterated that they will continue to pursue offenders and ensure that the law is upheld.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities directly to the Betong Police Station at 083-472345. Police have assured that all information provided will be treated confidentially and will contribute to safeguarding the community.
The case highlights the broader challenge of drug abuse in Sarawak, where authorities are working to balance enforcement with preventive measures. Community leaders have called for greater awareness campaigns and rehabilitation programmes to complement police action, arguing that long-term solutions must address both supply and demand.
As investigations continue, the Betong District Police reaffirm their commitment to protecting public safety and ensuring that offenders are held accountable under the law.
