KUCHING, Jan 20: The Sarawak government is gearing up for a grand State-level Chinese New Year (CNY) open house this year, scheduled for Wednesday, January 29, from 9am to 2pm at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

During a meeting of the organising committee, chaired by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, he described the occasion as a celebration for all Sarawakians.

“The leaders will celebrate together with the people because this event is not just an official function but a time to bring Sarawakians together,” said Dr Sim during the light-switching ceremony at the Padungan White Cat landmark in Jalan Padungan.

Dr Sim extended his wishes for the Year of the Snake, saying, “May this year bring good health, happiness, and prosperity to everyone in Sarawak. Let us continue to build a progressive and prosperous (‘maju and makmur’) Sarawak.”
