The Lundu District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from a member of the public reporting the presence of the venomous snake outside the kitchen door of their home. The complainant immediately contacted APM Sematan for assistance, prompting officers to be dispatched to the location.

The incident, categorised as a Snake Catching Case (Kes Menangkap Ular – KMU), was handled promptly and safely. The black cobra, known for its highly venomous bite, was secured without harm to residents or responders. The operation demonstrated the readiness and efficiency of APM personnel in managing wildlife-related emergencies.

APM Lundu Sematan emphasised its guiding principle of “Ready, Fast & With Integrity” in responding to such cases. The unit highlighted the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in reporting dangerous wildlife encounters, ensuring timely intervention and public safety.

Officials reminded residents that snakes, particularly venomous species such as cobras, often seek shelter near human dwellings during certain weather conditions. Public awareness and quick reporting are crucial in preventing accidents and protecting families.

The Civil Defence Force also reiterated its commitment to safeguarding communities across Sarawak. By maintaining strong coordination between PKOD and local APM units, emergency calls can be addressed rapidly, minimising risks to the public.

Residents are encouraged to remain alert and to contact emergency services immediately if they encounter dangerous wildlife. The APM Lundu Sematan Public Relations and Documentation Unit provided its emergency hotline, 082711292, for urgent assistance.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and community cooperation in ensuring safety. The successful capture of the black cobra reflects the professionalism of APM officers and their dedication to protecting lives and property in Sarawak.
