KUCHING – His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, Sarawak’s State Chief, together with his wife, Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, paid their final respects to the late Dato Sri Bo’ Tajang Laing on 24 April 2026.
The solemn visit took place at the family residence in Jalan Batu Lintang, where they were warmly received by family members.
The late statesman’s children, Puan Lohong, Puan Livan, and Puan Peing, along with relatives including Datuk Stanley Ajang and YB Senator Pele Datuk Peter Tinggom, welcomed the couple during the visit.
The Sarawak State Chief and his wife offered words of encouragement and moral support to the grieving family, expressing hope that they would find strength in this difficult time.
Tun Pehin Sri described Dato Sri Bo’ Tajang Laing as a distinguished Sarawakian leader who played a pivotal role in shaping the state’s early administration.
He served as a cabinet minister during the tenure of Sarawak’s first Chief Minister, Tan Sri Stephen Kalong Ningkan, and was recognised for his contributions to governance and state development.
Beyond his ministerial service, the late Dato Sri was also a key figure in matters relating to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
His involvement in negotiations and policy discussions left a lasting impact on Sarawak’s political and developmental landscape, cementing his legacy as one of the state’s respected pioneers.
During the visit, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan prayed for the family’s resilience and encouraged them to continue cherishing the noble legacy left behind.
They emphasised that Dato Sri Bo’ Tajang Laing’s contributions should be remembered as part of Sarawak’s journey towards progress and unity.
The passing of Dato Sri Bo’ Tajang Laing marks the loss of a highly respected figure whose leadership and dedication to Sarawak will be remembered for generations.
His role in both state administration and national negotiations underscores his importance in the history of Sarawak’s development.
