KUCHING – Following the conclusion of the 2026 Sarawak State Level Heroes’ Day Parade Ceremony, His Excellency the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, extended his visit to a special exhibition hall at Dataran Perayaan in Petra Jaya.
Accompanied by his consort, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, the Governor took the opportunity to engage with displays showcasing the capabilities of the nation’s security forces.
The exhibition served as an educational platform, bringing together various agencies responsible for maintaining national safety and order.
Prominent participants included the Royal Malay Military Regiment (11 RAMD), the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM), also known as the Sarawak Marine Police.
These organisations presented a comprehensive overview of their operational roles and technological advancements.
A diverse group of dignitaries joined the Governor and Toh Puan for the tour. Among them was YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, along with his wife, YBhg. Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini binti Abdul Jaabar.
Also present were key security and administrative figures, including YDH CP Datuk Mohamad Zainal bin Abdullah, the Sarawak Police Commissioner, and his wife; YBhg. Datuk Felicia Tan Ya Hua, Deputy Secretary of the Sarawak Government for Administration; and YBhg. Major General Mohd Sobirin bin Haji Mohd Yusuf, Commander of the 1st Division, accompanied by his wife.
The exhibition featured a wide array of military and police assets designed to illustrate the readiness of these forces.
Visitors could view high-powered firearms used by the Malaysian Armed Forces, such as the Barrett Sniper Rifle, which is renowned for its long-range precision.
Other technical displays included compass course navigation equipment and handheld pocket parachutes, highlighting the specialised skills required by modern soldiers.
In addition to static displays, the event offered practical demonstrations of tactical techniques. Experts showcased rope insertion and descending methods, providing insight into the physical demands and training standards of elite units.
A survival village exhibition was also part of the lineup, demonstrating how personnel are prepared to endure harsh conditions during operations in remote or hostile environments.
The Royal Malaysian Police section of the exhibition focused on clarifying the functions and core services provided by different departments within the force.
This initiative aimed to bridge the gap between the public and law enforcement, offering transparency regarding the daily challenges and responsibilities faced by officers.
It highlighted the multifaceted nature of policing, from community engagement to criminal investigation and traffic management.
Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan expressed their sincere appreciation for the effort put into organising the exhibition.
They noted that such events provide valuable exposure to the public, fostering a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that preserve sovereignty and public order.
The governor emphasised that seeing the efficiency and capability of national security agencies firsthand is both interesting and informative for citizens of all ages.
The visit underscored the state government’s support for its security institutions. By publicly acknowledging the tools and training available to these agencies, the leadership reinforced confidence in their ability to protect the nation.
