KUCHING – The Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG) held its 2026 Awards Ceremony on 24 June, recognising 368 staff members for their outstanding contributions through the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (APC) 2025.
The recipients, drawn from the ministry, local councils, and statutory bodies including the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Sarawak (DID), Sarawak Sewerage Services Department (SSD), and Housing Development Corporation (HDC), were each presented with a certificate and RM1,000 in recognition of their dedication and performance.
Dr Sim Kui Hian congratulated the awardees, emphasising that their commitment, sacrifice, and passion for serving the people of Sarawak had been instrumental in driving progress.
He noted that Sarawak today is vastly different from a decade ago, with the state now entering a new era of nation building shaped by artificial intelligence, digitalisation, smart city initiatives, renewable energy, and low-carbon development.
Dr Sim highlighted that the public will continue to monitor how effectively these transformations are implemented, as they directly impact daily life across the state.
He praised the ministry team for preparing new Guidelines for Low-Carbon Community tailored for local authorities, complementing the Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) Roadmap and reinforcing Sarawak’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
The awards ceremony underscored the importance of recognising excellence within the public sector, particularly as Sarawak advances ambitious programmes in green energy and smart city development.
By honouring staff achievements, the ministry aims to inspire continued professionalism and efficiency in service delivery.
Separately, MBKS Mayor Wee Hong Seng extended congratulations to staff of the Council of the City of Kuching South (MBKS) who received the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang 2026.
He commended their dedication to providing efficient, professional, and quality services to the community, describing the recognition as well-deserved.
MBKS, which serves around 350,000 residents, plays a frontline role in Sarawak’s governance. The Mayor’s remarks reinforced the council’s commitment to excellence and its responsibility in ensuring high standards of service for the people of Kuching South.
The dual celebrations reflect Sarawak’s broader vision of building a capable, motivated, and forward-looking public service workforce.
As the state continues to embrace innovation and sustainability, the recognition of staff achievements serves as a reminder that human capital remains central to Sarawak’s transformation journey.
