KUCHING – A cheque and reference book presentation ceremony was held on 23 June 2026 at SMK Jalan Arang, marking a significant contribution to the school’s academic and welfare initiatives.
The ceremony was officiated by Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, who handed over the assistance to the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).
The contribution, comprising financial support and educational resources, is intended to strengthen teaching and learning processes while enhancing student performance.
Dr Sim emphasised that the initiative reflects continuous support for education development in Sarawak, particularly in nurturing excellence among the younger generation.
He highlighted that quality education remains a cornerstone of building a brighter future, noting that the resources provided should be fully utilised to benefit both teachers and students.
The PTA of SMK Jalan Arang expressed deep appreciation for the Deputy Premier’s concern and commitment.
They acknowledged that the support would not only ease financial burdens but also provide students with better access to reference materials, thereby improving classroom outcomes.
Education has long been a priority in Sarawak’s development agenda, with leaders consistently emphasising the importance of investing in schools to prepare students for future challenges.
The contribution to SMK Jalan Arang aligns with broader efforts to uplift academic standards and ensure equitable access to resources across the state. The ceremony also underscored the role of community partnerships in education.
By engaging with schools directly, government leaders reinforce the importance of collaboration between authorities, educators, and parents in shaping the success of students.
Dr Sim reiterated his belief in the transformative power of education, stating that initiatives such as these are vital in ensuring Sarawak’s youth are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. His message, “Quality Education, Bright Future”, encapsulated the vision behind the contribution.
As Sarawak continues to embrace digitalisation, renewable energy, and smart city initiatives, education remains central to preparing the next generation to lead in these fields.
The support extended to SMK Jalan Arang reflects this long-term commitment to nurturing talent and building a resilient society.
