KAPIT – The Sibu District National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) strengthened its outreach efforts by organising an anti-drug exhibition during the Sarawak State Public Service Commission (SPANS) 2026 Mini Customer Day Programme at the Kapit Malay Community Hall, Kampung Muhibbah, on 5 July.
The exhibition was part of a wider community programme coordinated by SPANS in collaboration with several state and federal agencies.
Among the agencies involved were the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), the Malaysian Public Service Commission (SPA), and the Centre of Technology Excellence (CENTEXS).
The event attracted more than 350 participants, including local residents, youth, school students, and job seekers from across the Kapit district.
Organisers noted that the programme was designed to extend SPANS service delivery to rural communities, ensuring that residents are better informed about government functions and career opportunities within the Sarawak State Public Service.
AADK’s exhibition focused on raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, providing prevention messages, and offering advisory services directly to the community.
The agency emphasised that such initiatives are vital in building resilience against drug-related issues, particularly among younger generations.
The programme also highlighted the importance of collaboration between government agencies in addressing social challenges.
By combining career guidance, educational support, and anti-drug awareness, the event provided a holistic platform for community engagement.
Officials expressed hope that the initiative would contribute to the aspirations of Controlled Drugs 2030, a national vision aimed at reducing drug abuse and strengthening preventive measures.
The exhibition was seen as a step towards empowering communities with knowledge and resources to resist harmful influences.
Community members welcomed the effort, noting that direct engagement through exhibitions and advisory services helps bridge gaps in awareness, particularly in rural areas where access to information can be limited.
