Great British Circus Returns to Kuching with “Legend of the Sea.”

KUCHING, March 28 — The internationally acclaimed Great British Circus has returned to Sarawak with a brand new production titled “Legend of the Sea”, bringing a fresh wave of live entertainment to families in Kuching.

The circus began its Sarawak leg on March 20 and will run until April 26 at the Celebration Square, Sarawak Sports Complex in Petra Jaya. The one-month engagement in Kuching will be followed by performances in other towns, including Bintulu, which has been added as a new venue this year.

The new production features a water-themed stage complete with advanced lighting, a specially constructed pool, fountains and waterfalls. It as a completely new concept with fresh equipment and a new storyline involving sea creatures, pirates and a mythical pearl.

The show includes trapeze acts, contortionists, aerial acrobatics, dance routines and comedy segments. There are at least 10 major acts, with additional performances woven throughout the approximately 90-minute programme. Each show typically draws between 400 and 500 spectators, with many sessions selling out.

The touring team consists of about 40 to 45 members, including artists, technical crew and office staff. Many performers take on multiple roles behind the scenes, assisting with set construction and daily operations. The troupe is made up of talents from various countries including Scotland, Ukraine, Russia, Colombia, Bolivia, Brazil and Venezuela, alongside local Malaysian staff.

On weekdays, one show is scheduled, while two shows are held on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Ticket prices range from RM30 to RM150.

The minister has also encouraged corporate sponsors to purchase tickets for underprivileged groups and charity homes so they can enjoy the live experience.

With strong public support and encouraging ticket sales, the Great British Circus is once again proving that Kuching remains a welcoming and vibrant host for international performances.
