KUCHING – During a recent field visit to the N.74 Pujut constituency, Miri City Council Mayor YB Adam Yii inspected the progress of the street lighting improvement project under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
The initiative, covering Pujut 1 to 10, aims to enhance safety and security for residents by ensuring brighter and more reliable lighting along key roads.
The mayor emphasised that well-lit streets play a crucial role in reducing potential security concerns, allowing residents to feel safer when returning home at night.
He highlighted that improving public infrastructure, particularly street lighting, remains one of his ongoing priorities in serving the community.
The project is part of broader efforts to strengthen urban safety measures in Miri, aligning with the council’s commitment to community well-being.
By addressing lighting issues, the council hopes to minimise risks associated with poorly lit areas, while also fostering a more welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
Mayor Yii, who was accompanied by #TeamAdamYii during the inspection, reiterated that such initiatives reflect the council’s dedication to improving everyday living conditions.
He noted that the RTP programme continues to deliver tangible benefits across neighbourhoods, reinforcing trust between local leadership and the community.
