KUCHING – The Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) led by its Chief Executive Officer, YBhg. Datu Haji Abdul Hadi bin Dato Sri Haji Abdul Kadir, paid a courtesy visit to the Mufti of Sarawak, Sahibus Samahah Datu Haji Khalidi bin Haji Ibrahim. The meeting was held to strengthen ties between the two institutions and explore areas of cooperation.
During the session, the delegation received a briefing on the functions and responsibilities of the Sarawak Mufti Department.
Discussions centred on waqf management, with LAKMNS seeking advice and exchanging views on effective implementation strategies.
Both parties also explored potential collaborations that could enhance religious administration and community welfare in the state.
The visit was attended by senior officials from LAKMNS, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mohamad Feisal bin Said, Finance Department Chief Officer Hajah Nona Zaharia binti Fadzil, Mosque Management Department Chief Officer Abang Bikusary bin Haji Kadir, Assets and Facilities Department Chief Officer Khasmady bin Haji Mahidi, Investment Department Chief Officer Husmizam bin Ashek, and Management and Services Department Chief Officer Haryati binti Mohamad.
The courtesy call highlighted the importance of cooperation between religious institutions in Sarawak. LAKMNS plays a central role in managing mosque welfare and related initiatives, while the Mufti Department provides guidance on religious matters and policy.
By working together, both organisations aim to strengthen the administration of waqf, improve mosque management, and ensure that resources are channelled effectively to benefit the community.
Officials noted that waqf, as a form of charitable endowment, has long been a cornerstone of Islamic community development.
Effective management of waqf assets can contribute significantly to education, healthcare, and social welfare programmes.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of LAKMNS and the Mufti Department to uphold these values in Sarawak.
The visit also reflects broader efforts by religious bodies in the state to enhance collaboration and ensure that Islamic institutions remain responsive to the needs of society.
By fostering dialogue and cooperation, the two organisations aim to build a stronger foundation for religious governance and community service.
This engagement between LAKMNS and the Mufti Department demonstrates the ongoing dedication of Sarawak’s religious leadership to promoting unity, efficiency, and sustainability in managing religious affairs.
It is expected that future initiatives arising from this cooperation will further strengthen the role of waqf and mosque welfare in supporting the people of Sarawak.
