APM Matu Eliminates Large Ground Wasp Nest Safely

MATU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) successfully destroyed a large wasp nest near the Matu-Daro District Council office on 14 June 2026, following an emergency call from the public.

The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) in Matu received the report after the nest was spotted in a tree outside the council’s fence.

Witnesses described the nest as being roughly the size of a football, raising concerns about the safety of staff and visitors in the area.

Upon arrival, APM members were guided to the location by the complainant. The team prepared the necessary equipment before commencing the destruction operation.

Using insecticide spray, specifically Ridsect, the officers neutralised the nest and confirmed the area was safe once the procedure was completed.

No injuries or incidents were reported during the operation. Officials emphasised that the swift response prevented potential harm, as wasp stings can pose serious risks, particularly to individuals with allergies.

APM Matu highlighted the importance of community vigilance in reporting such hazards. Residents were reminded that immediate reporting of dangerous insect activity allows authorities to act quickly and reduce risks to the public.

The Public Relations and Documentation Unit of APM Matu reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the community, stressing that its personnel are trained to handle such emergencies effectively.
