KUCHING – The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, has officially been appointed Patron of the Sarawak Heart Foundation, following a courtesy visit by the foundation’s Board of Trustees on 16 June 2026.
The appointment, which took effect on 15 April 2026, was formally presented to the Premier during the meeting.
On the same date, Deputy Premier Dato Sri Prof. Dr Sim Kui Hian was named Chairman of the Sarawak Heart Foundation, marking a new chapter in the organisation’s leadership.
During the visit, the delegation introduced the foundation’s leadership team and handed over the official letter of appointment as a gesture of appreciation for the premier’s support in advancing public health initiatives.
The Premier’s role as Patron is expected to enhance the foundation’s credibility and strengthen its mission to promote heart health across Sarawak.
Discussions during the meeting centred on the foundation’s future direction, particularly its efforts to raise awareness about cardiovascular health, prevent heart-related diseases, and implement educational and welfare programmes.
These initiatives aim to empower communities with knowledge and resources to adopt healthier lifestyles and reduce the risks associated with cardiovascular conditions.
The courtesy visit also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Sarawak Heart Foundation and the state government.
