SPAOH – A swift response by Charlie Squad members of the Civil Defence Force ensured the safe resolution of an unusual emergency in Kampung Lot Spaoh on 17 June, when a bedroom door was found locked from the inside.
The Spaoh District Operations Control Centre received the call at 6.37 pm, prompting the immediate deployment of three squad members to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team discovered that one of the rooms could not be accessed due to the door being secured from within.
Using specialised equipment, the squad carefully pried open the door knob. Within minutes, the door was successfully opened without causing harm to anyone involved. No injuries were reported during the operation, and the situation was quickly declared safe.
The Civil Defence team advised the complainant to replace the damaged door knob or ensure spare keys are available to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The operation was completed smoothly, reflecting the unit’s readiness and efficiency in handling community emergencies.
Such interventions highlight the importance of rapid response teams in rural Sarawak, where everyday incidents can escalate without professional assistance.
The Civil Defence Force continues to remind residents to contact authorities immediately when faced with emergencies, ensuring that trained personnel can act promptly to safeguard both people and property.
